Friends of LL Stub Stewart & Rails to Trails
Mission Statement: The Friends group is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserve and enhance recreational and educational opportunities of the cultural, historical and natural resources of Stub Stewart State Park and Banks-Vernonia Rails to Trails.
L.L. Stub Stewart State Park, Washington County is located just seven miles NW of Banks on Highway 47. It is the first overnight camping state park built in over 30 plus years. The Banks-Vernonia State Trail runs through Stub Stewart State Park from Banks to Vernonia – the trail from Banks to Vernonia is approximately 20 miles. Besides the Banks-Vernonia trail, there are 17 miles of walking and horse trails built within Stub Stewart State Park. Camping sites with horse corals and RVcamping.

- The Store, “Discovery Depot”, is open at the Welcome Center. Hours 10am – 4pm Wednesday-Sunday, March-October.Currently there are 6 Bank-Vernonia trail heads on 17-20 mile trail.

The Tophill Trailhead is located in LL “Stub” Stewart State Park. It is ADA Accessible; equestrian loading platform; Horseshoe trestle; Parking; Restrooms and hitching posts.
Buxton Trailhead is ADA accessible; equestrian loading platform; Buxton Trestle; Interpretive Trail; Parking; Restroom and picnicing at Whistle Stop Shelter.
